Har-Tru, the world's premier manufacturer of tennis court surfaces, equipment , accessories and supplies is currently seeking a qualified a Maintenance and Facilities Technician that will lead the maintenance function for our manufacturing operation. This will include developing and implementing preventative maintenance measures, developing SOP's for all equipment maintenance, hands-on maintenance activities, overseeing contractors and vendors, and promoting an efficient and safe culture throughout the plant.  This is a hands-on position with a growing organization. This role will be asked to build a world-class maintenance function and will have long-term career development.

The position is based in Troy, VA near Charlottesville, VA (22974)


  • Plan and organize all short-term and long-term maintenance, minimizing downtime.
  • Perform and document all scheduled and un-scheduled maintenance activity.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Ensure all equipment has documented operating procedures and all manuals are kept up-to-date.
  • Conduct hands-on maintenance and repairs of plant equipment. Equipment includes crushing, screening, dust collectors, packaging equipment, motors, conveyor belts, pneumatics, hydraulics, pumps and gearbox repairs.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.  
  • Weld, cut and assemble metals and other materials with precision to maintain plant equipment and facilities.
  • Train and work alongside manufacturing personnel to operate and maintain the equipment.
  • Seek quotes from vendors for parts and services.
  • Oversee outside contractors working in the facility.
  • Ensure the facility's safety and environmental controls are compliant by working closely with the EH&S group and plant management. Ensure annual safety audit tasks are prioritized and completed.
  • Supervise all general building maintenance including the upkeep of grounds and landscaping. Keep the building and grounds in a clean and orderly condition by examining on a regular basis for needed repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness. 


To perform this job successfully, the successful candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

Requires a High School diploma and/or GED with at least 2 years of experience of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment including mechanical, electrical, and equipment maintenance. 

Proven experience as a welder. Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be a plus. 

Demonstrated ability to direct the work of employees. 

Good leadership skills, verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and technical competency. 

Ability to administratively mange and oversee preventative maintenance programs. 

Ability to work second shift and/or weekends when necessary.


Physical Requirements

Requires medium to heavy work that involves:

- Frequently climbing ladders and stairs to inspect, maintain and repair equipment,

- Frequently standing and walking for extended periods of time 

- Ability to lift 80 pounds.


Environmental Hazards: Frequent outdoor exposure to the full range of weather conditions. Requires controlled exposure to dust and loud noise.
