Position Summary

Har-Tru, LLC is looking for a creative Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineer to work on product development and product modifications, from concept, to design and manufacture, to final use by our customers.  The goals are to design and fabricate products for the tennis industry that create better places to play and to improve our manufacturing processes to create a better place to work. This position is available immediately and is based in Troy near Charlottesville, VA.

Position Description:

  • Work with Product Management to perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement) to include:
    • Conduct product experiments, analyze data, interpret results.
    • Test and Evaluate theoretical designs.
    • Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems.
    • Evaluate final product's overall performance, reliability and safety.
    • Alter and modify design to meet requirements and eliminate malfunctions.
    • Estimate budget and scope of project.
    • Manage, produce, and revise product drawings in various formats (Shop, 2D, 3D), through AutoDesk, Inventor, or equivalent system.

 

  • Work with the Manufacturing group to:
    • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
    • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
    • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
    • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
    • Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
    • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations, safety processes and compliance.
    • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
    • Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.

 

  • Work directly with the Purchasing Team for sourcing and ensuring product accuracy and quality.

 

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 2 years of experience in a product development and/or manufacturing role. 

The successful candidate will have experience dealing with:

  • Complex problem solving,
  • Working as part of different teams,
  • Prescribing and directing activities on the manufacturing floor including work with and train Production Associates,
  • Hardware specifications,
  • Manufacturing methods and procedures,
  • Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook),
  • Proficiency in 2-D and 3-D designs to create drawings.

 

The successful candidate will be familiarity with:

  • Engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoDesk Inventor, AutoCad, ProE or other).
  • Computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).

 

Travel Requirements - Approximately 15% of the time locally in Virginia and nationally. Occasionally travel time may increase based on business needs.

To perform this job successfully an individual should be able to travel on a flexible schedule. 

Physical Demands - Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Work Environment - Office, production and warehouse environment with controlled exposure to dust and loud noise.  

Compensation Base salary between $64,000 and $70,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Har-Tru, LLC has an annual bonus based on company performance.
